How to Determine the Opening (Aperture) size when the Mesh Count and Wire Diameter are known.

 Opening = 1 - D M
 M = Mesh Count (Pitch) in inches D = Wire Diameter

EXAMPLE 1
Assume the following:
A mesh count of 30 (Pitch = The Center to Center distance between adjacent wires )
A wire diameter of 0.013"

 1 Divide 1 by the mesh count (M) 1 / 30 = 0.033333" 2 Subtract wire diameter (D) from step 1 0.033333 - 0.013" = 0.020333" 3 The answer to step 2 is the opening size. Opening = 0.020333"
To determine the Pitch measure the distance across the wire diameters bordering the opening perimeter.  When the mesh count is known, to determine the pitch 1 / mesh count = pitch
EXAMPLE 2
Assume the following:
A mesh count of 250
A wire diameter of 0.0016"

 1 Divide 1 by the mesh count (M) 1 / 250 = 0.0040" 2 Subtract wire diameter (D) from step 1 0.0040 - 0.0016 = 0.0024" 3 The answer to step 2 is your opening in inches Opening = 0.0024"
