| Unified
Numbering System |
| Included in the tables
are six-character designations under the Unified Numbering System (UNS)
for the AISI numbered stainless steels. The Unified Numbering
System originated through a cooperative effort of the American Society
for Testing and Materials and the Society of Automotive Engineers, and
UNS numbers apply to all metals and alloys. All stainless steels
will be identified under this system with the letter "S" followed by
five digits. |
